Provincial Administration

  • The provincial government was the form of the central government and for conducting the work, it also had the same departments as that of the central government. But the designations of both were not the same.
  • The governor of the province or head of Iqta was called Vali, Sultan, Nazim, Naib, Mukti or Iqtadar. Mukti or Vali had more rights due to being in remote provinces They had to collect military tax and do judicial work.
  • Sometimes the governor resided in the centre and ruled with the help of his subordinate officers like Bulban who lived in the capital as Amir-e-Hajib.
  • The Secretariat was headed by Dabir (Secretary).
